Italian reissue label Abanico first appeared on this website last september with a great unreleased 1970s salsa album from Peruvian band Los Kintos. Here's the follow-up, another reissue licensed from the Mag label, a 1972 album from Don Roberto "Tito" Chicoma, also known as "La trompeta de oro" in Peru. Our first encounter with Tito Chicoma's music happened 3 years ago, thanks to a cool edit from Greek producer/DJ Palov. Discovering this 1972 LP (originally called 'Tito Chicoma Vol.2') is a great joy, an original copy is rare as hell, selling for hundreds the few times in appeared on Ebay. "Guaguancó" is one of the most popular styles of Cuban rumba that is still danced today, combining percussion, voices, and dance. 'Guaguancó Con Tito Chicoma' is a killer record, very highly recommended for salsa DJs who shouldn't sleep on this limited reissue!
