Paris DJs and Le Pigalle present the 23rd edition of their 'Tour Operator' weekly rendez-vous in Paris, with Grant Phabao, Vito and Djouls as the operating DJs for this session on may 19.

Vito is one the legendary behind-the-scenes men from many artists, labels and events of the music scene in France those last 20 years. Heretik Sound System, Popof, Ark, etc., wouldn't have gone the same path without his unstoppable energy, joie-de-vivre and communicative positivism. A close friend of Paris DJs since the turn of the century, Vito is also a tasty record collector and DJ, and this first appearance at the label's weekly rendez-vous at Le Pigalle celebrates his official entry on the collective's roster.

Grant Phabao is the main man behind the Paris DJs sound. Every single, album, compilation or mix by the collective goes first through his hands — and ears — for a professional audio mastering before publication. His reggae, funk, ska, afrobeat, jazz or afrofunk productions are among the best out there, so much that artists from all over the world come to Paris to collaborate with him, from Studio One singers and deejays in Kingston, to Fela's Afrika 70 musicians in Lagos… His remixes are legendary, from Alice Russell to George Clinton, from David Byrne & Chuck D. to Antipop Consortium, he always gets praise from radio DJs. The Craig Charles Soul & Funk Show on the BBC plays his tunes relentlessly: "Grant Phabao is my favorite French producer today", says Craig Charles.

Djouls is one the founders and the label manager of Paris DJs. An activist on the musical web since the mid-90s, he's now one of the most respected tastemakers in his own very large spectrum of "music you don't hear on the radio". While very busy with all things Paris DJs, on the diggin' side he's currently on a trip through time, with a series of mixes of cover songs from the same year, a voyage which started in 1960 a few months ago and is now passing through the late-70s…

With resident DJs : Loik Dury, Erik Rug, Fatta Soul Stereo, Grant Phabao, Djouls, Victor Kiswell + guests.

Le Pigalle is an authentic district hotel, whose story was shaped by its surrounding cultural melting pot animating Montmartre's South side. Victor Kiswell, one of the world's top record diggers (check his Paris DJs mix here) helped them build a strong musical identity, and even hand-picked a selection of LPs for the turntable-equipped rooms.

Stars of the Paris night, DJs have transformed the city into one of the party capitals of the world. Paris DJs – a collective of top DJs, including some of Radio Nova's original programmers - launched its own website www.parisdjs.com 10 years ago. Drawn to Pigalle's sexy, musical vibe, every Thursday they'll be spinning rare sounds with a hint of black music, a million miles from the muzak piped into conventional hotels.

"We know there's a close link between the hotel, music and culture generally, that's why we jumped at the chance to share our best vinyls with Le Pigalle", explains Loik Dury, one of the collective's hyperactive members. "Every Thursday, we're going to be inventing sounds unique to the hotel."
