Paris DJs and Le Pigalle present the 18th edition of their 'Tour Operator' weekly rendez-vous in Paris, with DJs Erik Rug and Grant Phabao as the operating DJ for this session on april 14.

Grant Phabao is the main man behind the Paris DJs sound. Every single, album, compilation or mix by the collective goes first through his hands — and ears — for a professional audio mastering before publication. His reggae, funk, ska, afrobeat, jazz or afrofunk productions are among the best out there, so much that artists from all over the world come to Paris to collaborate with him, from Studio One singers and deejays in Kingston, to Fela's Afrika 70 musicians in Lagos… His remixes are legendary, from Alice Russell to George Clinton, from David Byrne & Chuck D. to Antipop Consortium, he always gets praise from radio DJs. The Craig Charles Soul & Funk Show on the BBC plays his tunes relentlessly: "Grant Phabao is my favorite French producer today", says Craig Charles.

Erik Rug has been deejaying since 1978. He was one of the pioneers of house music in France along with Laurent Garnier. They were playing together at La Locomotive (now La Machine du Moulin Rouge). He was one of the Radio Nova anf FG activists in the early years of both radios, and his funk/boogie/disco parties WaxGroove were legendary for more than a decade. Flash forward to today, Erik Rug is currently resident DJ every friday night at the David Lynch-designed club Le Silencio in Paris. He plays mostly for private parties but makes an exception for Paris DJs, a collective he's been part of since day one, 10 years ago.

Every thursday evening in Paris, a brand new Parisian party 100% feeling in an authentic district hotel : Le Pigalle, whose story was shaped by its surrounding cultural melting pot animating Montmartre's South side. With resident DJs : Loik Dury, Erik Rug, Fatta Soul Stereo, Grant Phabao, Djouls, Victor Kiswell + guests.

Le Pigalle is an authentic district hotel, whose story was shaped by its surrounding cultural melting pot animating Montmartre's South side. Victor Kiswell, one of the world's top record diggers (check his Paris DJs mix here) helped them build a strong musical identity, and even hand-picked a selection of LPs for each room — all turntable-equipped.

Stars of the Paris night, DJs have transformed the city into one of the party capitals of the world. Paris DJs – a collective of top DJs, including some of Radio Nova's original programmers - launched its own website www.parisdjs.com 10 years ago. Drawn to Pigalle's sexy, musical vibe, every Thursday they'll be spinning rare sounds with a hint of black music, a million miles from the muzak piped into conventional hotels.

"We know there's a close link between the hotel, music and culture generally, that's why we jumped at the chance to share our best vinyls with Le Pigalle", explains Loik Dury, one of the collective's hyperactive members. "Every Thursday, we're going to be inventing sounds unique to the hotel."
