Tru Thoughts Recordings fanatics are in for a surprise with this single from producer Manu Delago, one the world’s most famous Hang players. The "Hang" is a melodic percussion, a kind of steelpan that resonates (more info on wikipedia). Manu Delago has been playing the Hang with the likes of Björk, The Cinematic Orchestra, Anoushka Shankar, Andreya Triana, the London Symphony Orchestra, etc. He'll be releasing a new album, 'Silver Kobalt' on Tru Thoughts later this year, preceeded by this "single". On an electronic/world tip, 'Disgustingly Beautiful' is indeed beautiful, but as you can imagine it's not aiming for the dancefloors, rather towards the live stage or synch opportunities… It's more of a kind of angelic, entrancing chamber pop, closer to classical or traditional world music than anything else.

Biography :
"Amazing percussionist and Hang player" - Björk

"Sensitive and masterful musician" - The Telegraph

"A virtuoso on the Hang" - The Times

"There was party time: drummer Manu Delago's orgiastic blast of percussion" - David Fricke, Rolling Stone

Having already collaborated with Björk, The Cinematic Orchestra, Anoushka Shankar, Andreya Triana and the London Symphony Orchestra, 2015 see’s Manu Delago release his new album, ‘Silver Kobalt’ on Tru Thoughts - a continuation from the subtle beautiful world/electronic crossover that was 2014’s ‘Bigger Than Home’.

As he sat behind his first drumkit at the age of two, Manu Delago began what would become a very musically inclined life. Four years later he took accordion lessons and, at the age of ten, he started playing the piano. As a teenager Manu mainly played football and drummed in HotchPotch which won the Austrian Band Contest in 2003. After graduating in classical percussion in his hometown Innsbruck, he moved to London where he studied jazz drums and composition.

When Manu Delago discovered the Hang, an enchanting sound sculpture manufactured by PanArt in Switzerland, he simultaneously discovered his passion for writing music. His Hang solo piece 'Mono Desire' has become the most popular Hang video on the internet (with almost 5 million views, embeded below) and reached the Top 30 music videos on YouTube.
