Reggae comes from Mento, Ska and Rocksteady. When Reggae invented dub and toasting, it gave America the technology and ideas which led to Hip Hop's emceeing (later known as rapping) and scratching. Thus Hip Hop was born. Even Gangsta rap came from Dancehall — both speaking about the violence from their neighborhoods.
Now let's take the thing full circle, and have a modern, fast rapper toasting over a punchy & roots ska instrumental ! It'll be anachronic for sure, but might be deeply groovy too… cos' it's all nothing but the good stuff.
This "Champion Sound" tune is a piece of art for sure, but it ain't gonna end in a museum though. Instead, it's gonna bring some heavy duty MADNESS on the dancefloors not afraid to tear the roof off !!
In two weeks, Paris DJs' crowdfunding campaign to press this gem on VINYL (along with two handfuls of other musical mischiefs from Chicagoan rapper RacecaR and French producer Grant Phabao) will end.
