Grant Phabao Afrofunk Arkestra feat Sandra Nkake and Ji Dru - Talking and Singing

Talking & Singing unites together the forces of 3 unique players: Paris-based Franco-Cameroonian singer & actress Sandra Nkaké; composer, singer & flute player Jî Drû; reggae, ska, soul, and afrofunk producer Grant Phabao. The resulting piece is an amazing piece of afro-funk, blending the Norman Whitefield psychedelic soul style of The Temptations with African percussion, heavy syncopation, and an irresistible funk groove. Available exclusively in the Paris DJs Wearplay t-shirt/single format, this tune was printed in VERY small quantities: only 50 tshirts and 10 sweatshirts, designed by famous French illustrator Ben Hito. You get the idea: do not wait, those are highly collectable releases!

Press Release :
Paris-based Franco-Cameroonian singer & actress Sandra Nkaké, along with her companion, composer, singer & flute player Jî Drû, have been regularly gracing the pages of Paris DJs with their solo records releases, featurings on other artists' records, free singles and, last but not least, exclusive mixes: 'Inspirations' and 'Journey'. They're also one of the most loveable couple in the Parisian music scene, as friendly as they are talented. Sandra combines an amazing stage presence with a powerful voice, both sensual and theatrical, vibrantly soulful. is an unstoppable force in music composition, always bringing his buoyant, unquenchable mood to the multiple projects he's part of…

Over nearly two decades of relentless music production, Grant Phabao grew to be a prime purveyor of Jamaican Soul, wether labeled "ska", "rocksteady", "reggae", etc. With the Paris DJs label, he managed to cross the rigid boundaries of music categorization with an astonishing quantity of high-quality productions and remixes in many styles, achieving a high-order mastery in reggae, ska, soul, and afrofunk. While working with his label teammates on a series of 'Tropical grooves & Afrofunk International' compilations those last years, he friended and collaborated with many musicians from the worldwide afro/funk scene: musicians from Fela's Egypt 80, Ebo Taylor's Afrobeat Academy, Antibalas, The Souljazz Orchestra, Karl Hector & The Malcouns, Jungle Fire, The Breakestra, Les Frères Smith, Franck Biyong, and many others. Soaking up influences from those musicians into his reggae/funk thang, Grant Phabao managed to find his own 'International Afrofunk' sound and has been bringing fire to 21st century global dancefloors with some killer, massive Afro tunes those last two years.

Talking & Singing unites together the forces of those 3 unique players, the resulting piece is an amazing piece of Afro-Funk, blending the Norman Whitefield psychedelic Soul style of The Temptations with African percussion, heavy syncopation, and an irresistible Funk groove.

About the PARIS DJS WEARPLAY format :

The music industry is evolving and Paris DJs with it. The vinyl resurgence led us to launch a crowdfunding campaign to start pressing records, and it was an unprecedented success, raising more than 12K€ to press some reggae on vinyl 45s and 12s!

In our quest for innovative ways to put out music, we wanted to prove capable of making great products that people would want to use, again and again. Original, creative, but satisfiying products.
That's how we came up with the idea of the "Paris DJs Wearplay", a clothing line of "music that you wear".

"Wearplay : A take off on airplay. A piece of clothing that you wear a lot gets a lot of wearplay." (urban dictionary)

French illustrator Ben Hito designs some beautiful, classy visuals for the songs we pick for Wearplay release.
Then we get that artwork screenprinted on 190g hi-quality t-shirts and upload the tune for streaming on Bandcamp, YouTube and Soundcloud for everyone to share.

The trick is you won't find this music for sale anywhere else but WITH its companion t-shirt.
You may buy the digital download with the t-shirt, or the t-shirt with the digital download. Or the other way round. But that's it.
Only then may you proudly arbor on your chest Paris DJs' groovy music, while supporting your favorite brand at the same time!
