Grant Phabao Afrofunk Arkestra feat Afrodyete The Wow

This brand new single from French producer Grant Phabao and American soul singer AFRODYETE is the bomb, the ultimate Afro-Latin-Soul-Funk dance song that's as much a tribute to James Brown as it is to Fela Kuti. Featuring an unbelievable array of guests musician from the wordlwide Afro scene, 'The Wow! (Awh!)' is just colossal, killer and great. This anthem deserves to be in your collection and on every radio station, perhaps the best record you'll hear this year… in the t-shirt and sweatshirt 'Paris DJs Wearplay' format!!

Press Release :
This brand new single from French producer Grant Phabao and American soul singer AFRODYETE is the bomb, the ultimate Afro-Latin-Soul-Funk dance song that's as much a tribute to James Brown as it is to Fela Kuti. Featuring an unbelievable array of guests musician from the wordlwide Afro scene, 'The Wow! (Ahw!)' is just colossal, killer and great. This anthem deserves to be in your collection and on every radio station, perhaps the best record you'll hear this year… in the t-shirt and sweatshirt 'Paris DJs Wearplay' format!!

While on the 'Itchin For Your Love' single L.A.-based singer AFRODYETE was doing a Marylin Monroe vs Prince vocal impersonation, in creating "The Wow! (Ahw!)" she's her own self, from her smooth to raunchy sounds, and for fun throwing in some vocal tributes to James Brown! When you hear her singing "Ahw!" or "Good God!" here, that's her way of honoring the godfather's music, keeping soul power alive.

Mainly the lyrics tell how to do the "Wow". The phrase: "Back & Forth" is when the dancers should be doing some type of foot work or side to side butt/hip movement, swinging hips low side to side like a pendulum, grinding up and down, alternating rolling the hips very sexy to the beat/groove, head movement or arms in the air spinning around, up & down, and "back & forth" movements repeated throughout. This is also called "Wowing out!". Basically, flipping out dancing, lost in fun, saying; "Ahw!" when instructed!

The WOW! , can be danced alone, by a couple, or a group of people! Anyone can do it! Dancers, regular folks doing it, young & older, make it fun, hot and sexy girl, hot guys, rolling bodies together to the music. doing movements together, moving "back & forth" , swinging their bodies in sync to the beat,/groove, spinning around, grinding in synchronization up & down, throughout song! It's been designed so that each person can put their own twist on it. The whole purpose of the song is to get folks to let go and get wild dancing and forget about everything else - just lost in having a crazy great time!

AFRODYETE used to sing in The Breakestra, and partly through Paris DJs' networking, she's now joined the Jungle Fire collective. Greatness is to be expected from this band who's just put out on Nacional Records one the best LPs of the year, 'Tropicoso'. And as a matter of fact, two members of Jungle Fire are featured on this single: Steve Haney on percussions, and Sean Billings on trumpet. They're joined on tenor guitar by Adrian Quesada, from Brownout/Grupo Fantasma/Echocentrics/Ocote Soul Sounds/Spanish Gold/The Electric Peanut Butter Company and a few others amazing projects. Ben Abarbanel-Wolff on tenor saxophone and Valentin Pellet on trumpet, both from Ebo Taylor's Afrobeat Academy. Regular Grant Phabao collaborator Guillaume Méténier (Soul Sugar) adds some Hammond organ while Antibalas keyboards player and The Funk Ark leader Will Rast passed by Paris DJs' studio earlier this year to play some clavinet on the tune. The instrument itself is legendary, it's the original clavinet from Randy's Studio in Jamaica, the one you hear on all those Augustus Pablo records & those Lee Perry productions for The Wailers… Will couldn't pass on putting is hands on this legendary piece of music history!

But that's not all. Saké Smith, horns player, composer and arranger in Parisian afrobeat band ©© Les Frères Smith also plays some much-needed baritone sax. And of course Grant Phabao does his magic, gathering all those musicians in all together, playing the rest of the instruments, programming, mixing and mastering all by himself.

So there you have it! This is the tune that you just sing with, dance to, you must find a place for the song somewhere in your life. It belongs to you now, dear listener, especially for you. Let your body go. Loose yourself dancing!

About the PARIS DJS WEARPLAY format :
The music industry is evolving and Paris DJs with it. The vinyl resurgence led us to launch a crowdfunding campaign to start pressing records, and it was an unprecedented success, raising more than 12K€ to press some reggae on vinyl 45s and 12s!

In our quest for innovative ways to put out music, we wanted to prove capable of making great products that people would want to use, again and again. Original, creative, but satisfiying products.
That's how we came up with the idea of the "Paris DJs Wearplay", a clothing line of "music that you wear".

"Wearplay : A take off on airplay. A piece of clothing that you wear a lot gets a lot of wearplay." (urban dictionary)

French illustrator Ben Hito designs some beautiful, classy visuals for the songs we pick for Wearplay release.

Then we get that artwork screenprinted on 190g hi-quality t-shirts and upload the tune for streaming on Bandcamp, YouTube and Soundcloud for everyone to share.

The trick is you won't find this music for sale anywhere else but WITH its companion t-shirt.
You may buy the digital download with the t-shirt, or the t-shirt with the digital download. Or the other way round. But that's it.

Only then may you proudly arbor on your chest Paris DJs' groovy music, while supporting your favorite brand at the same time!
