Info :
In 2010, Djouls set up with Paris-based producers Doctor L, Franck Biyong and Grant Phabao the highly collectable Colored-Inc. label. Together they released 16 albums in just one year, available digitally for only 12 months and on very limited CD pressings with handmade packaging. Afterwards, Doctor L went on his own way, releasing since then 2 marvelous Afro Jazz albums on Comet Records, while Franck Biyong and Grant Phabao on their side started working together on some Afrofunk productions. Djouls was at the time a partner of the Superfly Records store in Paris, which is just the number one vinyl record store worldwide for all things Afro, so recording new Afro music was the logical way to go…

One of the first track issued from those sessions was the dancefloor stormer Ogun from the Grant Phabao Afrofunk Arkestra featuring Franck Biyong on bass, with Nicolas Baudino (from Franck's Massak band) and Zakari Frantz (from The Souljazz Orchestra) respectively on tenor and alto sax. With heavy heavy Afrofunk breaks and horns slabs, Ogun has already been ravaging the clubbers heads & feets every time it's been tested on the floor, reminding the response Grant Phabao had at the end of the 90s with his pumpin' house hit single Tub, or in the mid-2000s with his reggae cover of Message To You Rudie.

This funkin' Afro hotness is now available on glorious vinyl thanks to Paris DJs' Brooklyn friends Electric Cowbell Records, who offered to share a split 7 inch to be released through a 45s singles club in the US from surf/skate/snow community-oriented label Volcom Entertainment. A-side by the CSC Funk Band is an in-your-face funk-rock instrumental, in the vein of The Apples's smashing funk cover of Rage Against The Machine's Killing In The Name! Strictly limited and hand-numbered, 600 copies of this 7 inch will be sent to Volcom's subscribers, 200 will be sold by Electric Cowbell in New York, and the remaining 200 copies will be available in Europe through Paris DJs.

This unmissable single announces new releases from Franck Biyong and Grant Phabao, who've been working together for a year now on Franck's upcoming album with his new band the Diamane Bantu Messengers, Ki I Ye Yi, on the upcoming Paris DJs Soundsystem compilation Dis Is Good For You - Tropical Grooves and Afrofunk International to be released next month, and on the Grant Phabao Afrofunk Arkestra album scheduled for early 2013…
