Doctor L - Sweet Life feat. Allonymous (Grant Phabao Remix)
Coming from Dublin, Liam Farrell a.k.a. Doctor L came along various musical courants: hip-hop, rock, afro, folk… Well-known producer (Assassin, Rodolphe Burger, Tony Allen…). He's always in quest of a sound revolution. His latest albums from 2012, 'The Great Depression' and 'We Got Lost', saw him deconstructing and re-inventing the blues genre with class, just like he had done with hip hop, rock or afrobeat in the past - always many steps ahead in the future.
Parisian producer Grant Phabao embraces the opposite course, taking 'Sweet Life' and its lucious vocals from slam master Allonymous on a deep and dubby odyssey to Kingston, Jamaica, during the 70s… or 'Never Play Me' with Tony Allen on backing vocals (!) on a swinging psychedelic trip - with James Bond-like arrangements over 21st century Chicago Soul.
With a groovy cover artwork from French illustrator Ben Hito, this new Paris DJs single is on the edge of African, Carribean and Afro-American music, simultaneously!
