Press Release :
Over the past five or so years, Mr P has been quietly building up a body of work: inviting old friends and peers from his world-wide travels to jam, experiment, collaborate, lay down something new; forecasting and championing new acts long before the commercial and artistic vindication in which he had played a part became widely accepted; a musical record that in its depth and contemporary relevance is as important as any, comparable to those very rare albums that come along and change our perceptions and define an era.
We are talking about the live sessions recorded in the legendary BBC Maida Vale studios for the DJ's visionary 'World-Wide' radio show on BBC Radio 1. Aired once, at most twice, these live sessions are often confined to the great BBC vaults and left to gather dust. But some recordings are just too important, too damn good, to be left to posterity. And so here on CD for the first time are the very best exclusive tracks by the best artists recorded live in sessions on BBC Radio 1 for Gilles Peterson's Worlwide show. Including N.E.R.D, Zero 7, Beck, The Roots, Amp Fiddler, Nitin Sawhney, Bjork, Heavy, Jasmine Sullivan, Matthew Herbert, Roisin Murphy, Roots Manuva, Beth Gibbons, Plantlife, Peven Everett, Common, Spektrum, Jade Fox, The Heritage Orchestra, Dwele, New Sector Movements, Cody Chestnut and Fat Freddy's Drop.
