Press Release :
After their critically acclaimed debut album "Kind Soul", The Stance Brothers return with a new 7-inch titled "Pick 'n' Roll" / "Youth Groove".

The sound is now perhaps a bit more soulful than with the previous releases and their new horn section adds another dimension to their already unique sound. The A-side "Pick 'n' Roll" is a soulful and sunny groover with a catchy horn riff, heavy percussion and "Tighten Up" influenced bass line. B-side "Youth Groove" is a funkier piece that's based on a dialogue between the guitar and the sax. The horn arrangements on the background might bring to mind the legendary T.S.U. Toronadoes.

The Stance Brothers is led by Teppo "Teddy Rok" Mäkynen. Teddy has gained fame both as a producer and an outstanding drummer. Teddy is the drummer of The Five Corners Quintet and its leader on stage, to name one of Teddy's jazz groups. Finnish jazz press has selected him several times as the "drummer of the year" and he has been awarded on many occasions. His debut album "Universal Four" by the Teddy Rok Seven received enthusiastic reviews and showed Teddys skills as a composer, arranger and producer. "Universal Four" also won the Jazz Record of the Year -award in Finland. "With one foot in the past and the other firmly placed on the kick drum, this new project from drummer/producer Teddy Rok looks like it has all the hallmarks of another classic" 4 out of 5 DJ Magazine on The Stance Brothers first single "Steve McQueen".
Press Release :
The Five Corners Quintet is back!

Three years after their sensational debut, the modern classic "Chasin' the Jazz Gone By" which sold over 40 000 units worldwide, FCQ returns with a 10-inch EP titled "Hot Corners". Three tracks of intense dance floor jazz for the forward thinking clubber. Their second album will be released in late 2008.

A: "Hot Rod" (T. Kallio): Rockabilly inspired intense dancefloor number that fuses modal jazz with driving upbeat shuffle. If Gene Vincent had collaborated with Wayne Shorter, maybe the result would have sounded something like this.

AA: "Shake It" (T. Makynen): Intense uptempo number which keeps the musicians - and the dance floor - on its toes. If Cannonball Adderley Quintet had interpreted The Sonics, perhaps it had gone this way.

AAA: "Easy Diggin'" (T. Kallio): Melodic and versatile instrumental track which makes you want to clap your hands and shout ‘Yeah!'. If Boogaloo Bacharach had recorded something for Stax Records had the result been this, we wonder.
